# Postey — AI Social Media Management AI agent skills for drafting, scheduling, and publishing posts across X, LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Threads, Bluesky, Facebook, and Pinterest. Works with: Claude Code, Cursor, Codex CLI, Windsurf, Copilot Workspace, ChatGPT, and any MCP-compatible agent. ## Setup (all agents) The same API key authenticates both the MCP server and the Postey skill. Only one key is needed. ### Step 0 — Get your API key Visit https://app.postey.ai?settings=agents§ion=advanced (AI & Agents -> Advanced) to generate an API key (starts with mk_). Available on every plan, including Free. If you are automating setup, check the environment for POSTEY_API_KEY first. If no key is found, prompt the user before continuing. ### Step 1 — Add the MCP Connector URL: https://mcp.postey.ai/mcp Auth: X-API-Key: header (preferred — no browser required) or OAuth 2.1 Authorization Code + PKCE (interactive) Config snippet (merge into your agent's MCP config — do not overwrite existing entries): { "mcpServers": { "postey": { "type": "http", "url": "https://mcp.postey.ai/mcp", "headers": { "X-API-Key": "" } } } } Config file locations: Claude Code (CLI): ~/.claude.json (or .mcp.json in the project root) Claude Desktop: ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json Cursor: ~/.cursor/mcp.json Windsurf: ~/.codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json Other: Check your agent's documentation for MCP server config location. Claude Code CLI shortcut: claude mcp add --transport http postey https://mcp.postey.ai/mcp \ --scope user --header "X-API-Key: " (--transport http is required; without it the entry is read as a stdio server) Client-specific connector UIs: Claude: https://claude.ai/settings/connectors?modal=add-custom-connector ChatGPT: https://chatgpt.com → Plugins → + → Add custom MCP server (Developer Mode is no longer needed) OAuth discovery: https://srvr.postey.ai/.well-known/oauth-authorization-server API key mgmt: https://app.postey.ai?settings=agents§ion=advanced (AI & Agents -> Advanced) ### Step 2 — Install the Postey skill Claude Code. Use the shell form; the /plugin slash command opens an interactive panel and cannot run unattended: claude plugin marketplace add posteyai/skills claude plugin install postey@postey-skills Every other agent: npx -y skills add posteyai/skills -a -s postey -y All three flags matter. -a and -y stop the command waiting for a keystroke an unattended run cannot send; -s postey stops it also installing the repo template as a second skill called skill-name. Then give the skill its own credential. Pass --key so it does not prompt on standard input: node ~/.claude/skills/postey/scripts/postey.js setup --key --location global The skill is not Claude-Code-only. It covers what the server cannot reach: local files, video processing and the content playbooks. It is versioned, covers every client, and is the one surface kept in step with the server: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/posteyai/skills/main/setup.md Or paste this to any agent: Set up Postey by following instructions: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/posteyai/skills/main/setup.md The document is written to be executed by an agent, not read by a person. It verifies each step before continuing, and it only ever reads — no step in it creates, publishes, schedules or deletes anything. ## API Reference https://postey.ai/docs/api
